(This is an) Equal Opportunity

  • We take action to make sure all applicants and apprentices have an equal chance to succeed.
  • Everyone is welcome. We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or age (40+).
  • California law also protects against discrimination based on ancestry, marital status, gender expression, and medical condition.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the Ed Pathway Pre-Apprenticeship (EPPA)?

EPPA is an early step into teaching for students age 16+ (high school juniors/seniors, community college students). It includes job shadowing, workshops, mentoring, success coaching, and college coursework.

Who is eligible to apply for the program?

Eligibility for the Educator Pathway Apprenticeship includes community college students, paraprofessionals, recent graduates, and career changers. Applicants should be at least 16-years-old. Those 18 and over need to have a high school diploma or equivalent and a passion for education and community service.

What are the benefits and how am I supported?

You graduate with a bachelor’s degree, a teaching credential, and classroom experience already on your résumé. You’re also supported by mentoring and coaching along the way.

What is the Teacher Apprenticeship Program (TAP)?

TAP is a Registered Apprenticeship program officially approved by the U.S. Department of Labor and California’s DAS. You earn while you learn: completing your degree and teaching credential while gaining paid, on-the-job classroom experience.

Do I get paid?

Yes. Pre-apprenticeship students receive stipends, plus college credit toward future teaching pathways. The Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program is designed so you can continue working while completing your credential.

Who funds this program?

This program is supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, with additional state/local support.
